Premonition

The roots of the trick can be found in Johann Hofzinser's “Domination of Thought” from Kartenkünste, 1910, p. 81 of the Sharpe translation. Then came William H. McCaffrey's “Prize Winner,” 1933, marketed by Thayer, and published again in Greater Magic, 1938, p. 564. Eddie Joseph later released Premonition, 1948, with George Armstrong following shortly behind with George Armstrong's Premonition, 1949, both being a one-trick monograph with an identical effect to McCaffrey's, and all three using Hofzinser's basic method.
