The idea of using a salt shaker with “magic salt” in place of a wand was created by the Austrian professional, Paul Potassy. He was using it by or shortly before 1940, and it was a trademark bit throughout his career. See MAGIC, Vol. 14 No. 2, Oct. 2004, p. 59.
