This was apparently the invention of R. N. Menge, U. F. Grant's business partner, and marketed by Grant as “Menge's Climax Egg Bag,” 1945. However, Grant may have had a hand in its invention, since he had made a chicken-shaped egg bag in 1931 for Eddie Welch. See Barton Whaley's Encyclopedic Dictionary of Magic, 1989, p. 159.
