This is an old revision of the document!
Elmer Biddle published this sleight in Genii, Vol. 11 No. 8, Apr. 1947, p. 241. Ed Marlo maintained that Tony Kardyro had independently devised this steal and was using it some years before its publication by Biddle (see Marlo's comment in Ibidem, No. 23, Mar. 1961, p. 506). However, a new contender, discovered by Max Maven, is Eddie Joseph. See his “Repeat Six Card Trick” in Strictly Magic, 1939, p. 8. The false count Joseph describes is identical to Biddle's in mechanics and intent, differing only in that the packet is held by its sides, as in a glide, rather than by the ends.
