Cards Up Sleeve or to Pocket, in sequential order

In 1950, Dr. Jacob Daley contributed a “Cards Up the Sleeve” routine to the Stars of Magic series (Series 7, No. 1). Daley's routine featured a novel idea: The ten cards of the packet were the Ace through Ten of a single suit, and traveled up the sleeve in sequential order.

Around the same time, Stewart James's developed a “Progressive Cards to Pocket” (Ace through Nine of Spades, plus the Queen of Hearts), which was eventually published in The Linking Ring, Vol. 35 No. 4, June 1955, p. 82-84. According to James, he developed it in early 1948 (see Stewart James In Print: The First Fifty Years, 1989, p. 662).
