Slow-Motion Ace Assembly

This is a variant of the classic Ace Assembly, in which each Ace is made to vanish separately from its pile and appear in the “leader” Ace pile, thereby creating a sequence of three distinct transpositions, rather than the usual conglomerate one. The first appearance of this effect is “Mobilizing the Aces” by Dai Vernon in The Sphinx, Vol. 40 No. 1, March 1941, p. 24. Vernon said that he and Jacob Daley had, at the time, constructed over thirty handlings. Vernon later published another of his handlings, “Slow-Motion Four Aces” (which became a standard), in Stars of Magic, 1950, p. 90.
