Ed Marlo first described and discussed this technique in M-U-M, Vol. 49 No. 7, Dec. 1959, p. 280. Bob Veeser described his sleight using a step or sidejog. Marlo followed up by changing the step into a thumb break. Marlo then mentioned that Veeser developed the break handling as well, which he described in a second letter sent a few days after his first.
