Jumping Rubber Band

Invented by Stanley Collins and published in The Magician Monthly, Dec. 1911, p. 10. Reprinted in his Conjuring Melange (1947), p. 115. In the Tarbell Course, Vol. 1, p. 134, a second band, twisted around the fingertips, is added. In Thayer's Magical Bulletin, Jan. 1921, Frederick Furman explained a version using two bands of different color for an exchange effect. Tom Sellers, in his Immediate Magic (1937) published a three-band version. See Gardner's Encyclopedia of Impromptu Magic, p. 505.
