This flourish was first described in print by Martin Gardner in Hugard's Magic Monthly, Vol. 8 No. 8, Jan. 1951, p. 739. There Gardner wrote: “It is to Walter O. Taylor, of Tulsa Okla., that I am indebted for exact details on the flourish. Taylor first learned the move thirty years ago, and was doing it with half dollars for several years until he saw a movie with a gambling scene in which one of the card players executed the shuffle with blue and white poker chips.”
