Fifteen of Hearts Novelty Card

This novelty playing card, generally used for a gag revelation, was invented in 1939 by Clayton Rawson as a promotional gimmick for his mystery novel, The Footprints on the Ceiling. See Sid Lorraine's mention of the card in Tops, Vol. 4 No. 7, July 1939, p. 7; also Michael Canick's Clayton Rawson: Magic and Mystery, 1999, pp. 6-9.
